As you are probably aware, a heatwave warning has been issued for Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th July. Temperatures are predicted to reach 35/36 degrees Celsius in the afternoon (with a ‘feels like’ temperature of 37/38 degrees Celsius). In order to try and keep the school community as safe as possible, and following local and national guidance, we are making adaptations for these days. What we will do: Students can attend these days in Chosen Hill School PE Kit. Outside activities will be carried out in shaded areas, and the hottest parts of the day will be avoided. Students will be encouraged to drink plenty of water and refill their bottles frequently. There will be additional shaded areas and classrooms available for students to sit in during lunch and breaktime. What you can do: Please check that your child is bringing a water bottle into school so they can keep hydrated in the high temperatures. Please ensure your child has a sun hat and sun cream applied and wears their Chosen Hill PE Kit to stay cooler. Please remind them that they still must bring all the books and equipment that they will need for a normal school day. Chosen Hill School is a happy school, where students, staff and parents work closely in partnership. There is an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect. The School opened in 1959 and became an Academy Trust in 2011. There are close to 1400 students in the school including a popular and expanding Sixth Form.
